Cheering for Catie Modugno '20

Catie Modugno ’20 has been dancing since she was 8 years old. She started with competitive dance through the Lisa School of Dance in Bartlett and then joined the St. Francis High School dance team once she became a Spartan in 2016. By her senior year, she was captain of the team. She continued her dance career at Indiana University through 2024 and was recently accepted as a cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts!
In tandem with the Colts’ cheerleading team, Catie is completing her master’s in Accounting Data and Analytics at the IU Kelly School of Business, and the past two summers, she’s also served as a Tax Consultant intern with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago.

“It’s a busy schedule but what motivates me is I genuinely love everything I’m doing, and I am fully dedicated to everything,” she said. “I’ve gotten good at time management over the years, and I plan ahead. There are some sacrifices, like maybe I can’t hang out with my friends as much as I like to, but it’s about being passionate about what you do that keeps you going.”

Her dance focus in college was gameday style, which she described as a combination of upbeat jazz and hip hop. Now with the Colts in focus, it’s NFL style.

One of the things she’s most looking forward to is the Bears and Colts game on September 22.

“My whole family is coming down, so it’ll be like worlds colliding: my team and my home people,” she said.
The game day atmosphere is one of her favorite parts about cheering and she said the Colts organization reflects a lot of the same values she experienced with her college and SFHS team.

“It’s a genuine family community where we truly support each other and our outside careers as well,” Catie said. “It’s what creates those lifelong friendships and bonds that form. I love being a part of the team and having a group of girls I can count on.”

Catie said she chose to attend high school at SFHS because many of her friends from elementary school at St. Isidore School and her older sister also went to SFHS.

“I loved my four years at St. Francis – I made some of my very best friends there, who I still talk to every day,” she said. “The incredible teachers and staff taught me so much that I carry with me in my college career. Everything I learned at St. Francis made it possible for me to be where I am today.”
