Athletic Trainer

A sports medicine program exists to enhance the health and safety of athletes. The St. Francis High School Athletic Training program is committed to the overall welfare of its student-athletes through the application of injury prevention, emergency and treatment procedures, rehabilitation and return to sport guidelines.

What is an Athletic Trainer?

Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.

As highly qualified, multi-skilled allied health care professionals, athletic trainers have been part of the American Medical Association’s Health Professions Career and Education Directory for more than a decade. Additionally, the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine are all strong clinical and academic supporters of athletic trainers.
