How to Ensure an Ecofriendly Summer

Summer is coming up quickly, and it tends to be easy to forget that even though school’s out, we still need to be aware of our daily waste and trash. When we take all the steps to make our summer eco-friendly, it helps the grass become a little greener for next year. Here are some easy tips for this year’s summer to decrease your carbon footprint!
First, avoid plastic and disposable plates and utensils, which end up in the oceans and harmful landfills. There are plenty of reusable alternatives that cut down on trash and resources used. Some ideas are paper, bamboo, starch, and many others.

Next, try to reduce some of that air conditioning usage. We know it’s hot in the summer, and it can get intense, but air conditioners are very harmful to global warming. Fans use less energy, as do humidifiers. You can even use plants to purify your house air!

One of the most important tips is to travel sustainably! Many people are going on vacations over the summer, which is so much fun to do. Just try to make sure that you use eco-friendly travel options when possible like bikes, walking, skateboarding, or jogging. Some eco-friendly travel essentials are bamboo toothbrushes, ethical clothes, reusable makeup wipes, and paper bags. There are many other ways to reduce your carbon footprint this summer but not ruin the fun while doing so! Enjoy your summer, and remember to stay active!
