Robotics Team Competes in Inaugural Meet

The first-ever SFHS Robotics Team competed in its first meet at the Universal Technological Institute in Lisle on Saturday, November 2! The team is moderated by SFHS Physics Teacher Kim Fermoyle and SFHS parent Kurt Reidenbach.

Mrs. Fermoyle said that the team’s consistent ability to earn big points during the endgame and earn points placing samples in the low basket helped the team place 7th in the conference out of 14 teams - an amazing accomplishment for a first-time showing!

Students who participated in the competition Saturday include Kate Reidenbach, Declan Tibble, Noah Munson, Travis Mockus, A.J. Backman, Johnny Schwan, Isabel Zalatoris, and Aidan Nealon. Additional club members include David Callender, Juan Garcia, Matthew Holbrook, Aaron Mizen, and Isabel Zalatoris. Congratulations to you all and thank you to our club moderators!

At the meet, teams compete in 18 matches. SFHS was also the only team that could complete a Level 2 Ascent, meaning the robot was hanging in the air at the end of the match.

The next meet is at Wheaton Academy on December 7, a third meet is in early January, and the League Tournament is in early February.
